Just a couple of tips that you may or may not know about already…
If you’re interested in studying outside your home state, you could check out the National Student Exchange program (http://www.nse.org/). You can spend a semester at another university in the USA, Canada, Guam, Puerto Rico, or the Virgin Islands and continue to pay your regular in-state tuition.
If you’re interested in truly immersing in another culture(s) and want to do it for free, consider applying for an Erasmus Mundus master program (http://ec.europa.eu/education/external-relation-programmes/doc72_en.htm) after you finish your bachelor degree. I applied (and there’s nothing special about me) and was awarded a 2-year scholarship (totalling $56,000, which was more than enough btw..) to studying in Norway, Finland, and Portugal. Unfortunately, many Americans are unfamiliar with this opportunity, but it is truly a fantastic opportunity! Remember you can always go home afterwards.
I wrote about my experience on my blog, though I’m a bit behind in updating it. Right now, I’m still in Norway even though I’ve finished my program… I met an amazing Icelander along the way.
Anyway, I wish you luck in accomplishing your life goals
Whoopsies! After looking through your blog a bit more, it looks like you might be Canadian! So, I don’t know about the National Student Exchange program, but you should still check out the Erasmus Mundus program if you’re interested. It’s open to anyone in the world!
I was just doing some editing on my blog & realized I never even answered this comment! I’m so sorry! Thank you so much for the info
My University does study abroad programs which I should look into next year… But I’ll definitely wait and see how I’m feeling then because I know it’s a lot of money. Thanks for stopping by!
