I cannot BELIEVE August is done and September is already here. Today I’m back at school for the first time since the month of May (except for the fact that I spent at least one day at school every week of the summer for meetings other than my vacation). Everyone is back as of today which means the halls will be crowded, there will be lineups everywhere I go, and of course… Classes.
I’m not taking anything very exciting this semester as I have a lot of “core” business classes to get through, but I did sign-up for a management class on conflict/resolution, as well as a marketing class in planning an entire promotional campaign, which I think might be super interesting. I added a minor in Marketing to my Bachelor’s degree, and this is the first class towards it. I’m still not sure if I want to keep the minor as it means taking four extra classes, but then again, if it’s interesting, why not?!
I must say this each time I start a new semester, but I’m ready to be motivated and get my work done on time. I have a LOT on my plate this year, so effective time management is going to be key. So far being a President for a University committee has been a ton of work, not to mention my constant duties with Confront Magazine, as well as my actual job. Throwing full-time school back in the mix may very well kill me, but I’m going to try and NOT let it get the best of me. Last fall semester I caught a bronchitis-turned-pneumonia during finals, so I’m hoping to avoid that amount of stress and get through without too many scratches/illnesses.
I already miss summer. I know it’s still beautiful and warm outside, but I miss the freedom of my days, despite all the work I still had to do. I’m going to start sacrificing a lot of social outings in favor of class work, and I’m not looking forward to that part too much. Luckily Fall is one of my favorite seasons and I love being at school so I’m hoping to make the best out of the next year of school!
A few things I’m looking forward to this semester/year so far:
- CASA Cares events! We’ve been planning, budgeting, and organizing for a year chock full of fundraisers, parties, and academics. It’s stressful, but so far has been super rewarding. My team is awesome.
- Getting anywhere from 6-8 more classes done in my degree. I’ve been getting through University pretty slowly, and although I love it more and more each year, this is already my fourth year there. Hopefully if I can maintain full-time student status, I’ll be that much closer to getting my diploma!
- Fall = pumpkin spice lattes, boots, scarves, straight hair, leather jacket, my nephew’s 2nd birthday, and completing five years at my current job at the bookstore I work with!
- I have a whole year to work hard, pay off my credit card, and hopefully start planning next summer’s adventure. Anticipation is half the fun, right?!
Back to school I go, likely a more scattered and hectic blogging schedule, but I’ll be making regular appearances on Twitter and Instagram, not to mention I’m still working through my 365 Photo Project on Facebook!
