30 Day Music Challenge: Day 30

Day 30 – Your favorite song at this time last year

At this time last year I had just come home from spending a week going to concert after concert with two of my best friends. We went to 4 shows in 4 days, and half of them were entirely spontaneous. It was one of the most fun road trips we’ve ever done together, and that’s when we became really attached to Faber’s music. This one particular song really stuck out for us because it constantly seemed to bring us good luck right up until the summer months of 2010. I miss those days!

Do you remember what you were listening to at this time last year?

30 Day Music Challenge: Day 29

Day 29 – A song from your childhood

My childhood in music was a really big mix of two things: Spice Girls & Backstreet Boys. When I look back to being a kid, I remember cutting out magazine articles and newspaper pictures of both of them and reading everything I could when it came out. I don’t know which one I liked more to be honest, but I do remember knowing more about the Spice Girls. I used to buy those magazines that were JUST Spice Girls & I would literally cut them up and make scrapbooks out of them. I had like 3 or 4 by the time my SG phase was over… I think my mom ended up saving them in a box somewhere in the attic or something.

Oh, and me and my friends were totally those girls who pretended we were each a different Spice Girl and we held concerts. I also had the sporty spice mini figure, the baby spice barbie & most of my school stuff was SG related.

Good times.

Oh man. I’m totally reminiscing now looking at pictures on Google from SG in 1998. Holy 90s batman.

Who did you listen to when you were younger? Any embarrassing stories to go along with it?

30 Day Music Challenge: Day 28

Day 28 – A song that makes you feel guilty

I’ve never felt GUILTY about music before, but I certainly have guilty pleasures. Here’s my current one:

30 Day Music Challenge: Day 27

Day 27 – A song that you wish you could play

I guess I should have read this one before doing Day 26… but I’ll just choose another one that I wish I could play too! Let’s see…

I would love to learn the guitar in this song. It’s so beautiful, it gets me every time. Especially the very beginning (around 45 seconds in the music video, there’s some strange beginning to it)

On that note: Mumford & Sons is on my must-see live list. Like, ASAP. So good.

30 Day Music Challenge: Day 26

Day 26 – A song that you can play on an instrument

Since the only instruments I can play are the saxophone, the clarinet, the flute, the recorder and other various random high school things, I never learned any GOOD songs (it was always up to my music teacher and obviously in high school you didn’t play anything besides classics) so instead of putting a video of twinkle twinkle little star, I thought I might share a song that I’ve always WISHED I could play… on the piano.

Around 40 seconds in the piano kicks in, and then at the second chorus, well that’s basically the reason I wish I could play piano.

30 Day Music Challenge: Day 25

Day 25 – A song that makes you laugh

If you can watch that whole music video without laughing and being totally amazed, you’re a whole lot stronger than I am. I love OK Go & this song is the reason. Whenever I hear their music I can’t help but think of their genius viral youtube videos (yes, they’re all just as cool and hilarious and awesome!)

30 Day Music Challenge: Day 24

Day 24 – A song that you want to play at your funeral

Well that’s a little morbid. But I’ll play along…

I don’t really know what kind of explanation to add to such a sad kind of post, but basically I remember hearing this song in high school when a guy 2 years younger than me died, and it reminded me to always live life to its fullest and never take it for granted. A lot of people passed away from my high school in the years I was there, and this song was always one that came to mind. I want people to be inspired (in a weird way) in the same way I was, because I feel like it’s so easy to forget that life is the most fleeting thing.

30 Day Music Challenge: Day 23

Day 23 – A song that you want to play at your wedding

I’ve honestly never given this any thought, I’m really not one of those girls. So I’m just going to have fun with this one and share a really cute song about love and weddings and well, if I was getting married next month I’d definitely dance to this at my wedding I’m sure!

It’s just so CUTE and I love Bruno Mars’ voice. It’s such a fun an upbeat song and impossible not to love.

30 Day Music Challenge: Day 22

Day 22 – A song that you listen to when you’re sad

I don’t really remember what I turn on when I’m sad, but I imagine this song would definitely be in there. It’s slow, sad, emo and really all kinds of perfect for a sad day.

I also needed a reason to put it in this challenge, because I’m in love with it, especially around 2 minutes in when it gets slow, and then really intense.

Your turn!

30 Day Music Challenge: Day 21

Day 21 – A song that you listen to when you’re happy

I can basically listen to anything by The Rocket Summer when I am happy or to get happy. His music is so much fun and just so cute. There’s nothing that he’s put out that I haven’t fallen in love with since 2007.

I chose this song in particular just because the lyrics are so great and the minute the first note is played, I smile right away. I also think about how much fun his set was at Warped Tour last summer. Jenia and I literally bolted to the stage to be front row, and it was totally worth it. We also did something we pretty much never do- we waited in line to meet him.

Seriously, I need to see him play a show again soon.

What’s your happy song?
