March Moments

I’ve been feeling very busy and disconnected from my blog, and it’s not a feeling I’m used to in the least. It’s strange to look at my recent archives and feel like there is a gap between my life and my writing, and there is very little I can do about it because I’m so short on extra time in my life. But I do my best to keep my blog going when I can, and knowing that I’m still writing a little bit everywhere helps a lot too.

March has been a crazy, beautiful month. Normally, I hate this month. I have for the past decade, because it is just tainted with a lot of bad dates that have followed me through my life. But this year I have been fortunate enough to stop thinking about it, even for a little while.

Here are the moments that have made this year’s month of March so wonderful for me, also known as another way to update about all the things going on in my everyday life!

1. Feeling under the weather and having a good friend surprise you with freshly baked cookies and a little care package that included a candle and some bubble bath. Relaxation, yes please!

2. Interviewing two amazing Canadian bands for CONFRONT Magazine, Inlet Sound & Lakes of Canada, and then attending their show that evening which was tons of fun.

I reviewed the show right here!

photo (3) Not to mention spending the evening with one of my favorite people <3

3. Somehow finding the time to write THREE guest posts. One about my favorite travel reads, another about my job at CONFRONT (going live later this week, link soon!), and one more about how much I love music.

4. Babysitting my nephew a few times, which is always the highlight of my weekends!

5. Dinner for a friend’s birthday turns into a girls’ night & reunion with some of my favorite people

6. Finding out that I will be taking over presidency next year for CASA Cares, the charity association that I am currently the VP Public Relations for this year. I have LOVED being a part of this year’s team. It has not only changed my University experience, but I’ve met tons of amazing people, worked with some great charities, and have learned so much about myself in the process. I’m terrified, but so excited, to see what next year brings to the team that I am currently putting together.

7. Seeing P!nk live in Montreal for the very first time. She has been a long-time favorite female artist of mine, and a role model throughout high school and CEGEP. She was, hands down, one of the best concerts I have ever been to.

pinkshow Enjoying the show with some crazy friends :)

IMG_5784 Definitely the best concert I’ve been to all year!

8. NEW YORK CITY for four days, a much needed trip away from home & getaway with friends

IMG_5872

9. Spontaneously having a day off after a very long week coming home from NYC… I *really* needed to just sleep and do my own thing. It was wonderful!

10. Last, but certainly not least, everything this month related to the CASA Cares fashion show. The event took place this past Friday March 29th, and was beyond a success I could have imagined. Our team worked tirelessly for 3 months putting this event together, and seeing it sell out, seeing the models work the catwalk, the performers engage the crowd, and everyone having an amazing time? SO worth it. I’m still on a high after that 20+ hour day, and although it’s difficult to wrap my mind around doing it in another year, I’m already SO excited. What an insane, beautiful experience to be a part of!

I stole a bunch of people’s Instagram photos to share below. Everyone helped spread the word with our hashtag #Platinum10, and from there I grabbed  bunch of awesome pics. Here’s a little look at how the night went:

Official photos right here, with hundreds more to come. I’m sure I ended up in pictures somewhere during the night, which I’ll be sure to share as more pictures come my way!

& how was your month of March?! Any great stand-out moments?

An Adventurous Weekend

Today I am guest posting over on Stephany’s blog Stephany Writes about vacation must-reads. I’d love for you to check it out and let me know what books you would recommend to someone leaving on a trip? Steph is currently on a cruise. You should all be jealous.

So I ended up taking a relatively spontaneous long weekend off from blogging. Often by the time Friday rolls around, I’m already beginning to draft up posts for next week. But as of right now, I have NOTHING. I think every once in a while it’s nice to just take some time to LIVE and everything else will catch up eventually.

I had one of the best weekends that I’ve had in a long time. I had a spontaneous 4 days off from work, and although I already had a little road trip to Vermont planned with two work friends, I ended up packing my entire weekend with plans. Since today I’ll be heading back to work (in just a few hours, sigh!) I thought I’d share some photos from the last few days before truly getting back to reality.

Thursday- I don’t have any photos, but I had a really lovely day anyway! I spent the afternoon at a L’Oreal sale with one of my best friends where I spent FAR TOO MUCH MONEY on makeup and hair products, followed by a really nice dinner and an Italian restaurant with some friends. Another one of my good friends is leaving for Florida tomorrow so we all wanted to get together for a little goodbye dinner kind of thing.

Friday- I got ready and met my two work friends (well, ex-work friends. I mean we’re still friends, we just don’t work together anymore!) and we drove over the border to Burlington for the night. We bought tickets to see FEIST in concert months & months ago, and had planned to stay overnight to do some shopping the next morning before heading home.

Sitting & waiting for Feist to start! Not our best picture, but the only one we got together

The lovely & extremely talented Feist! She put on a great show. Can’t wait to see her again in August!

The service at our hotel was amazing, but the place itself was SO sketchy. These tips were nailed crookedly to the back of our door…

Walking the gorgeous streets of Burlington on Saturday morning. We walked through a Farmer’s Market before heading into the mall for some serious shopping!

Although Vermont is only a couple hours from home, it still feels like an entirely different world. I always love going to the States for little trips because I get to eat and shop at places that don’t exist just a couple hours North here in Montreal. Although I do go a little crazy turning my cell phone off most of the time, I actually enjoyed it SOSO much this weekend. I happily turned it on to Airplane Mode as soon as crossed the border, and just spent the entire day enjoying a lovely city without worrying about who was trying to get in contact with me. It was VERY nice. ‘

We had a quick lunch at Panera (my first time there!) before heading the 2 and a half hours back home. I was VERY excited about trying this place out because I’ve heard so many good things about it, and it did NOT disappoint! My food was the bomb.

On Saturday night, we had a big girls’ night with a bunch of the ladies from work. I wasn’t able to stay for very long because I had to be up early on Sunday, but I was there long enough to take some yummy jello shots, HOLD A SNAKE (my friend’s pet!) and spend some time in the hot tub.

A few of us girls around the kitchen table!

Me being terrified while trying to hold Timmy the snake! I actually can’t believe I was convinced into doing this, ha :)

Sunday- Mother’s Day was another non-stop day for me. I woke up bright and early for a brunch with my family, followed by a baptism & finally the most delicious meal EVER as an after party for the baptism. I was out basically from 10am until 7pm and by the time I got home I was completely exhausted.

I had SUCH a lovely day and spent tons of time with my nephew who I hadn’t seen in almost two weeks. It felt like way longer- every time I see him he changes and does fun new things. Plus I think he gets cuter every time too. Seriously.

Me and my super giggly nephew at brunch. I freaking love this little munchkin! <3

My brother and I with my nephew at brunch :)

Happy Mother’s day! I’m extremely lucky to be able to call this woman my mom :) <3

Hanging out with daddy during the baptism. His eyes just melt my heart!

It was my sister-in-law’s first Mother’s Day! Baby loves his mama :)

Goodness, it takes a long time to write about 4 days of awesome. I love weekends like this, and I hope there are many more to write about this summer. So far, May has been such a good month to me.  I’ve been working so hard at making the best out of all the little moments I have- with family, friends, and just the time I spend on my own. This weekend was, if anything, the exact kind of thing that reminds me why I’m so lucky to be surrounded with the family and friends that I have in my life.

Did you do anything special this weekend?

Already Monday?!

It always seems like the best weekends go by the quickest, doesn’t it?! After last week’s ridiculously low key-ness I was really looking forward to keeping non-stop busy from Thursday straight through to Sunday night. Here’s what my last few days have looked like while I’ve been away from the blog!

Thursday: I woke up nice & early to go to the gym, but unfortunately a sprained wrist meant I’d have to skip out on my back-to-back fitness classes. Instead, my sister-in-law picked me up and I ran errands with her & my nephew! After some grocery shopping, we headed back to her place and spent the day eating/making more vegetarian dishes/playing lots of games with little Cris (obviously!)

Sleeping while I snap some pictures. You know how it is.

ANOTHER picture, auntie?!

Dinner that looks like pasta, tasted KIND OF like pasta, but was actually raw zucchini! So. Yummy.

Friday: Not much exciting stuff happened on Friday, now that I think of it! I spent the day at work followed by a nice relaxing evening at home with my Kindle and my computer. I was working early on Saturday & didn’t really *feel* like going out. Apparently I’m becoming more and more of a homebody!

Saturday: After what felt like the longest shift ever at work (in reality it was only about 6 hours) I headed back home for my Valentine’s Day party with the girls! I’ve mentioned a ton of times that we go out of our way to celebrate all the holidays together, and V-Day is certainly no except when 5 out of the 6 of us are single. These girls keep me sane, and I love that I can talk about a million things with them that doesn’t include why I still haven’t found the right guy.

We spent the evening eating a bajillion kinds of food, playing some old school nintendo (I lost interest at first, but played some really serious rounds of Mario Tennis by myself at the end of the night! I lost every single time. Boo)

Of course there were lots and lots of pictures too. We always know there’s a part of the night dedicated to timer shots all together, and it’s quite funny to see us all just gather on the floor and change positions 10 times in the hopes of getting a few good ones. They’re USUALLY all pretty crazy looking, but that’s what makes it great memories! My friend Jenn brought up how it felt like NOT a year ago since we last celebrate V-Day all together, and as I thought back to last year at my house with the same girls, I was overcome with so much darn love for the five of them. We’ve all been through so much together in the last 3 years that we’ve been (single) friends, it’s crazy to look back on. I love these girls like family though!

Did you notice we color coordinated for the holiday?! We’re cool like that.

Sunday: My nephew slept over Saturday night, so I woke up around 4:30am to feed him and hang out. Unfortunately this wasn’t by choice, I woke up with a terrifying ear infection and I couldn’t fall back asleep. I spent some time on the couch playing with him while keeping a cold cloth on my ear, and finally took some Tylenol and fell asleep as the pain dulled away.

I woke up a few hours later (8am, actually. Dear Lord.) and spent lots more time playing with Cris and dressing him up for the day. One of my good friends and her boyfriend came over for 3 hours or so to meet my nephew, and I THINK they were quite smitten with him too! They held him and played games and made him laugh… And it really warmed my heart to see them with him :)

We were babysitting my nephew because it was my brother & sister-in-law’s TWO YEAR wedding anniversary! They spent the day at the spa together, and came to pick up their baby around 4PM. My sis-in-law’s parents ended up coming over like 3 minutes after they showed up, and they brought Anniversary Cake so of course we all sat down and had a lovely spontaneous family afternoon gathering! It was all around very lovely, I loved reminiscing about being in Mexico two years ago watching my brother get married to the woman he loves. SO much has changed in two years, especially the newest addition to our family- I can’t wait to see what the next two years bring to our family!

Chocolate Wedding Anniversary cake… The best kind!

The bride and I getting ready before the ceremony in 2010!

<3

And that is my awesome weekend of fun! Although I needed last weekend to just be by myself and do my own thing, I realized that I love these ones even more. I had such a great time seeing all my friends and my family, and I’m just very happy as I write this post!

How was your weekend?! Any special moments in yours?

Project 365: 15-21

**Today I’m being featured on Elle’s blog Veni. Vidi. Vici- check out my interview here!**

Day 15

My work station for the day. Attempting to eat healthy snacks (but unable to stop drinking coffee) while I continue to schedule guest posts and update all my things before I leave!

Day 16

Lunch time! Grilled vegetables & thing crust mushroom pizza. So delicious!

Day 17

Enjoying some time outside on a beautiful day with my favorite little man!

Day 18

I had to take some time before work to run over to the glasses place and get these fixed. In 15 years this has never happened to me out of the blue, and it was NO fun. I’m blind as a bat without them! Via Instagram.

Day 19

The day I went to see Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows Part 2 and just wow.

Day 20

Headed downtown with my mom on Friday evening FINALLY for our Just For Laughs show called Modern Love, hosted by Eric Stonestreet from Modern Family. Pictures during the show weren’t allowed so I settled for a shot of the stage before it started. All those white things on stage are screens! The show was overall a really neat experience, especially considering Eric isn’t a comedian besides being a hilarious character on Modern Family.

Day 21

GIRL’S NIGHT! Mirror picture was necessary. We were all rather tipsy around this time (note: 8:30PM) and we followed our margaritas and wine with some intense Wii Karaoke and Wii tennis. Then we cried and fell asleep to the movie PS: I Love You (I swear I cry EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. I watch it) Pretty classic girly night, am I right?!

First Week of June in Pictures

This week has been so full of fun times: concerts, parties, going out, dancing… all that awesome stuff. I’m behind on my posting and there were a bunch of things I skipped during the week so I thought I might start by sharing pictures from the past 7 days:

On Tuesday I went out with some friends to a bar from 2.50$ drinks. Does it get better than that!?

We spent time on the dance floor! But not enough time. It was too hot. Let’s go back soon?!

On Thursday I went to an amazing concert with some best friends, this was afterwards <3

We took silly dinner pictures where we switched glasses for the sake of interesting photos!

On Friday I went out with like 2908 work friends for a goodbye party. That 2nd girl from the left is leaving for Italy for 2 months and I”m going to miss her a LOT. Plus we love having excuses to get drinks together.

On Saturday night a few of us girls got together to say goodbye to Mags as a closer group. I was really tired but honestly had the greatest time and I’m really glad I went! We ate lots of really yummy food, talktalktalked, hung out in/around the hot tub & had a Goodbye ice-cream cake!

Me & Oli having some yummy dinner!

We also went downstairs and cuddled on this massive couch and watched a couple episodes of Friends. We were actually all laughing hysterically. Why is it funnier when you’re all together?!

In between all this fun partying and saying goodbye, I did a lot of working too. We were together pretty late on Saturday night and I was up bright & early for a staff meeting at 8am today. I came home, took a nap and now I’m already getting ready to go to sleep… 4:30AM wake-up tomorrow morning for work! I love having these nonstop weeks sometimes.

How have you been?!

Busy Bee

This weekend was absolutely crazy and hectic and all that kind of stuff, but in the best way possible!

Friday: After work, I headed over to my friend Mel’s house and we played some very competitive Wii boxing & a bit of Wii baseball too. I was already super sore from my Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred work-out, so I nearly just died right there… But it was a ton of fun! It’s scary how much fun that game is. Afterwards we headed over to Madison’s restaurant and met up with two more girls from work for a yummy dinner and some drinks!

We all ordered some yummy margaritas (heavy on the tequila, light on the fruity other stuff that goes in there!) and we all got nice and giggly before heading over to the movie theater to see Bridesmaids! We met up with one last friend from work, Caitlin, and the five of us literally laughed for 2 straight hours. If you haven’t seen it already, you definitely need to go check it out. It’s the most amazing girls’ night movie, minus that one really traumatizing food poisoning scene. I can’t get those awful images out of my head!

On Saturday I was stuck working all day, despite the fact that it was the MOST beautiful day we’ve had here in Montreal in about 2 weeks. It’s been raining straight through every single day, but Saturday was a gorgeous, hot, sunny day. Boo. I really wasn’t feeling too good and I started to stress out about school (I have a midterm tomorrow, ugh.) but I got through my shift and took a nap as soon as I got home before going out for a late dinner.

It’s another one of my work friends’ birthday next week, so we surprised him with a dinner and 20+ people. I missed the ‘surprised’ face because me & my friend who was driving got lost (um, for an HOUR) but we heard that he was completely shell shocked! He was super happy and the food was delicious and I just have the funnest time with my work people.

Kasey & I acting silly at the dinner table!

Two of my favorite cashiers from the other end of the table! I went to say hi and we had fun taking some pictures.

Everyone ended up going out clubbing after the dinner, but I didn’t want to get too crazy with all the studying and work I needed to catch up on. So I just had a couple glasses of wine, got super happy and giggly, and took a bunch of pictures before coming back home around midnight.

Finally, on Sunday I woke up feeling relaxed and not stressed anymore at all (apparently wine relaxes you? I felt great after!) I woke up ready to tackle my day. I got some chores done and some work done for CONFRONT. Then I started reviewing my May goals to see how I was doing, but I got a bit disappointed because I seem to have forgotten about quite a few of them. Darn. I’ve got a week to work on that though, so I made a nice list of things to do and I can’t wait to get on that!

Later on in the afternoon, 3 of my best girls came over to my house for a girls’ night and more Greece-vacation planning. I bought all the necessary food for a yummy dinner and dessert, and it was the greatest time.

My yummy dessert! Toasted waffle, raspberries/blueberries/blackberries/strawberries, chocolate sauce and LOTS of whipped cream! YUM.

We got super carried away with the dessert and started just pouring whipped cream straight in our mouths, and making fun little fruit people (Kate made a Strawberry and Selina called him Charles before shoving him in her mouth!Ha!) We did our usual sitting around the kitchen table just talktalktalking, taking some hilarious pictures with all the food, and basically just eating lots and lots. Oh and we did our usual browsing the internet and youtube to show each other our favorite new videos.

My favorite? The marshmallow experiment. SO FUNNY. Look at the kids’ faces!

How was your weekend? Did you do anything fun?! Eat anything delicious?

Sleepy Sunday

Okay so… I seem to have forgotten to blog these last few days. That’s not cool. I blame overall hectic-ness of life.

Here are a few things about my weekend:

1. Friday night, Jenia & I decided we needed a girls’ night (which consists of eating  a lot and playing video games. We may as well have called it guys’ night?) but it was a ton of fun! After work I headed over to her place and we went to the second hand bookstore down the street. The man who owns it is the coolest, even though he asked me in the creepiest voice ever if I wanted to go visit his basement. He meant well though, he’s got HUNDREDS of books stored there. I ended up leaving with 20 dollars less in my pocket but 4 awesome books. I probably need to stop buying & just freeze time to read faster!

Afterwards we went back to my house, ordered an amazing ton of Greek food (GREEK SALAD yum!) and played Wii Mario Kart for like 3 hours, followed by Mario Party for Wii. Time just flew by, and before I knew it, it was time for sleep.

2. Saturday I had to wake up super early for work, which sucked. My day went by incredibly fast though, and I came home and caught up with some TV shows that I didn’t have time to watch this week! It was a quiet night in but I don’t mind having those, I constantly feel like I have a million things to do anyway.

3. One of my catch-up TV shows was Grey’s Anatomy and I just want to say that (to whoever watches) Callie & Arizona are the CUTEST thing ever. And I’m also totally in love with a combination of Mark Sloan & Derek Shepard. I mean seriously, not only are they good looking but they’re both gonna be daddies! Cute!

4. Today (Sunday) I woke up even EARLIER to go to work. It was a super intense work day, we had lots of moving around to do… I went to work out of uniform and lifted boxes all day. Basically, I worked out for like 8 hours and now I can’t move. I feel broken.

5. I may also fall asleep at my keyboard… and I have to wake up EVEN EARLIER for work tomorrow. 4:30AM alarm? Anyone? No? Okay fine.

6. I got home from work around 3:30, just in time for Mother’s Day brunch with the family! Although I was super exhausted, I got to have breakfast at 4pm with everyone, I gave Mama Day cards to my mom, my sister-in-law and her mom. I loved the ‘mommy-to-be’ card I picked out, I still get super giddy whenever I think about becoming an auntie in 5 months! In 4 weeks we’ll be finding out whether it’s a boy or a girl. My mom thinks it’s a girl, my sis-in-law’s mom thinks it’s a boy. I’m honestly SO excited to find out. And more excited to meet him/her!

7. My Calculus teacher gave us 3 days to complete 2 full assignments (instead of the 7 days we SHOULD get). This should begin to tell you how incompetent he is. I can’t believe I’m stuck with the WORST teacher in my whole University career for a class I have to re-take. I mean really, world? REALLY? I just want to do well.

8. Now I have to go finish assignment #2 before I legitimately fall asleep on my desk. I have to be awake in 8 hours.

Hope your weekends have been more relaxing and peaceful than mine! Do anything fun?

Girls’ Nights & Other Fun Things

This last week has been so overwhelmingly busy for me that I haven’t been able to blog once. I have a few things saved into my drafts (AKA the last bits of my Music Challenge) but I’ve got some other catching up to do first.

Last week I had 2 of my 3 exams, so my first few non-blogging days were basically me studying like crazy in hopes of passing Calculus with flying colors. I’m not too sure if I’m going to do AMAZING because that exam was really tough, but hopefully I did pretty well. Fingers crossed. My second exam was an English essay which went quite well I think- the best part was at the end of it my teacher gave back our final big paper of the semester and I got an A+!! I actually couldn’t believe it. I feel like those are so hard to get because that basically means the teacher wouldn’t change anything about it. Atleast that’s the way I see it. So I’m super happy about that!

My English exam was on Saturday morning, so I pretty much spent the weekend stress-free of studying and partying like I haven’t done in months. Me and 5 girls from work  rented out 2 hotel rooms downtown where we watched the hockey game, got ready all together and went to party at a club until the very early hours of the morning. It was amazing.

We got to the hotel, turned on the hockey game, put some face paint on and then took pictures for 2 hours!

The girls started doing handstands, but really, hotel rooms are not built for that kind of activity. Poor Christina got kicked in the face!

We basically lived the whole night through mobile photos VIA Facebook because we completely forgot to take actual pictures. I think that might be due to the fact that we were just having too much fun. We headed to a random club called Music, and we pretended it was our friend Christine’s Bachelorette party. We made her a list of 10 things she had to complete that night as if she was really getting fake married, and we had tons of people incredibly convinced for the first half of the night that she was actually getting married.

The second half of the night was a crazy blur, we met a group of guys who were celebrating a Bachelor party, and they were convinced for a bit that our friend was getting married too, so we all celebrated together. There was a bit of a crappy ending when another one of my friends’ lost her brand new iPhone, but I think overall the night was a success! We didn’t come anywhere near finishing the Bachelorette list of things to do, but here’s what the accomplished version looked like…

We had to pencil in a few extra things that Christine ACTUALLY did, but weren’t there… You know, just for the sake of being witty and what not.

It was just a really fun and spontaneous “let’s see where this leads us” kind of night. We lost a few friends, messed a hotel room (and then cleaned it as girls do) and woke up not feeling well at all. It was the first time we all went out together and partied like that, but it was such a great way to just let loose and forget about our real lives.

The state of our poor hotel room at 4AM when the two of us got back! We were the last two standing! Slowly but surely the other 4 girls made their way back home and ‘The Hangover 3′ jokes ensued.

If you’ve seen The Hangover, you’ll understand this one. If you haven’t, please go see it immediately.

Finally yesterday I got home around 1:30 on about 3 hours of sleep. I had been up for 23 straight hours because of my exam the previous morning, so I literally got home and completely crashed for nearly 4 hours. I woke up and headed over to Selina’s house to start planning my trip to GREECE! By 11PM we finally managed to get a rough outline of what we want our trip to look like. We’ll be visiting the beautiful Kefalonia for one week, Athens for 4 days or so (spread out through the 3 weeks), Mykonos for a fun weekend of partying and Santorini for a beautiful ending to the trip. That’s what we’ve got so far- we want to go and take it easy and not stress about it too much, and I know that whereever we end up, we’re going to have a blast.

Mirtos Beach in Kefalonia… Beautiful, isn’t it?! I honestly cannot wait!

How has your week been? Your weekend?!

Books/Shows/Weekends/Friends

These last two weeks have been a mix of tons of fun and tons of… not fun. Since I still don’t have a camera, I haven’t really been able to update on things that I’ve been up to, but now that I’ve stolen pictures from all my friends it’s time to re-cap the last little bit of my life!

First of all, it was one of my closest friends’ birthday last weekend, and despite being trapped in a 12 hour Calculus tutorial on Saturday & Sunday, I still managed to see her twice and celebrate her twenty two years of existence!

On the Friday night, I joined her and a few other friends for dinner at l’Academie, a restaurant that’s really been growing on me each time I go. Soso yummy! It’s only now that I look back on that night that I realize I didn’t even get a picture with the birthday girl, but I snuck into a few others…

K & I! I really don’t see this girl enough. At least we’ve got 3 weeks in Greece this summer to look forward to!

Me & Lis before everyone arrived, not sure what my hand is doing… but otherwise I think we look nice!

On Sunday night after all the math was finished, I got together with the girls for a quiet night in. We were GOING to watch a movie and eat tons of food, but we ended up staying in K’s kitchen for almost 5 hours talking. It’s what we do best. Oh and of course we blew out some birthday candles!

Me and the ladies! We’re going to look so fabulous in our pictures for Greece, let me tell you.

What else? Well I’m not doing very well in my goals at the moment. School was definitely taking a priority last week, but this week not so much. I tried to not watch any new TV shows until the end of April, but it’s such a good way to just relax and not think about the stress in life.

So I got into this new show called The Event starring Jason Ritter (AKA the new love in my life since I saw his adorableness on Parenthood!)

I’m totally addicted to this show, which is still in it’s first season. I’m about 12 episodes in (I know, how sad right? It’s been less than 2 days!) and it’s soso addictive. I’m not a huge science fiction READER, but I love these kinds of TV shows. It’s basically a mixture of Lost/24/The 4400 (did anyone watch that?) and I don’t know, like Heroes maybe too. It’s aliens meets the government meets conspiracy theories meets awesome. I’m obsessed.

In other TV news, I’m now completely obsessed with watching Ellen DeGeneres videos on youtube. She always posts the ‘best of’ from her show, and I have this compulsive need to watch all of them! Ellen is seriously amazing, I’ve always loved her but lately it’s just been this strange addiction of mine. I wish I had cable to watch her actual talk show… Soon I hope!

My current favorite Ellen video is the one she posted about her “cameo” in the latest Harry Potter movie. She seriously kills me!

And finally, I’ve been trying to read lots still- I haven’t been reading quite as fast as last month because I have been SORT OF doing school work, but the last two books I finished were by one of my new favorite authors, John Green. The latest of his work is something he co-wrote with David Levithan (Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist) and it’s called Will Grayson: Will Grayson. It was actually quite good, though not my favorite of his stuff. I did read it in about 3 days though, after finishing his 3 other books that I absolutely ADORED. Do read them! I just ordered the last of his books off Amazon yesterday and I’m very excited to get to it.

All of his books so far are from the perspective of boys, which might be one of the things I love most. That being said, he had this live youtube session on Friday and read the first chapter of his new book which is from the perspective of a girl, and I’m even MORE excited about that! My favorite so far is definitely Looking for Alaska, but the other two, Paper Towns & Abundance of Katherines are tied at a close second. John Green also tweets, has a cool looking website, does great youtube videos with his brother where they basically send each other a 4 minute video once? twice? a week to stay in touch.

Here’s one of his recent clips to his brother Hank, and he’s kind of hilarious. Also a bit insane but it’s hard not to love it.

And THAT’S all I’ve got going on for now!

For real, it’s time to start studying for my math final which is in T-Minus… 4 days. Oh God.

Catching Up

So I broke the rules a little and made a few posts today for my Music Challenge & well obviously this post because here it is. I had absolutely no time to blog this weekend which doesn’t bother me too much (even though I still try as much as possible to blog every day), but I really want to get through my Music Challenge so, yeah, I cheated.

Life is in full ‘final month of school’ mode and I don’t particularly mind. I’m stressed, but not even a bad stressed. This weekend was the perfect mix of good and not good, so it all evened out.

Basically, Saturday from 8:45am-2:45pm and Sunday at the same time, I was in my Calculus crash course (my final is on April 13th) and now I’m feeling really good about the material. After Wednesday I’m going to start practicing questions every single day, and then do a bunch of practice finals to get ready. I want to kick my finals’ butt.

On Saturday after my tutorial I headed over to Club Soda to interview a famous Canadian rapper called Classified. I was really excited because I’ve seen him perform at the Juno’s and he’s been nominated a couple times as well. Also, he’s got FOURTEEN albums. I mean, he must be doing something right, right? Anyway, as we all know now, I have a weakness for catchy rap songs and well his new single is just that.

I was a bit nervous and intimidated to interview him after reading up on his career and seeing his music videos, but he turned out to be so incredibly nice and down to earth. I love when artists surprise me like that. He answered my questions really honestly and we had a lot of fun with it. He also loves to talk about his two daughters, which is really sweet.

On Sunday after my tutorial ended an hour early, I came home and relaxed for an hour before heading back out for Agnes’ birthday. It was just us and K & S, as usual, but that was just fine with all of us. We sat in K’s kitchen for 4 and a half hours and talktalktalked, ate lots of food, had a cake and watched some super original music videos on youtube. Like this guy, raw talent, seriously:

Do check out his other stuff.

So that’s basically what I’ve been up to. I have two more days of actual classes, so I’m really going to push through to get all my stuff done. Then finals, then a few days off, and then summer school! God, time flies. Have I really been in University for almost a year already? Once I get all my grades back maybe that will sink in for real.

How was your weekend?
